Giovanna Reder, Virtual Boundaries – State of the (Un)Known

Nº 280
Nov/Dec 2018

The closure of routes for refugees, the imposition of tariff duties, and the construction of walls: borders are increasingly degenerating into makeshifts for nationalisms once believed to have been overcome.

On the other hand, borders and boundaries are also important orientation points for each one of us on the path to freedom, for only if you know your limitations, you know more than your limitations. With our next focus theme, we will be addressing the subject of limits, borders, and boundaries – their imposition and removal – and consider the shift of boundaries as a process of effective design.

In our next issue, in the Archive section, we consider picture and children’s books produced by designers, address, as part of the Discourse, the subject of aestheticisation in and through design, and showcase Venida Devenida, a Spanish studio, whose founders are working in particular on an analysis of hegemonic structures in design, architecture, and art.

Nº 280 will be out on 9 October 2018.
