First Time in Northern Germany: 100 Beste Plakate 18
Exhibition at Wilhelm Wagenfeld Haus,
27 March – 9 August 2020
After the traveling exhibition “100 Beste Plakate 18. Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz” had already stopped in Berlin, Vienna, Zurich, Seoul and Lausanne, it will now be on view at Wilhelm Wagenfeld Haus in Bremen from 27 March. It shows the posters, which were awarded in the 2018 edition of the prestigious competition for contemporary poster design. From the 2,353 entries, both professional and student, an international jury selected 100 outstanding posters for the exhibition. The exhibits demonstrate the continuing relevance of the oldest information medium in public space, as well as the diversity and vitality of current poster culture.
What is striking is that many of the designers use the medium of posters to bring political and social concerns into public space. They experiment with type, not only as a medium of information, but also as an image medium, deal with the human body in the digital age and test the limits and possibilities of analog posters with digital tools. The visitors to the exhibition are able to bring some of the posters to life with the support of the Augmented Reality App Artivive.
The exhibition opens on Thursday, March 26 at 7 p.m. and can be seen until August 9, 2020 at Wilhelm Wagenfeld Haus.
