Coburg Design Days - 31st Edition
28 May – 2 June 2019
The Coburg Design Days – 31st Edition will take place in Upper Franconia from 28 May to 2 June 2019. The disused historic goods station has served as the centre of the event since 2014. While the Pakethalle (parcel hall) inside the station serves as a creative space for exhibitions, workshops and presentations, various concepts for the design of outdoor areas and for urban gardening can also be found outdoors around the former goods station. These interim uses are an integral part of the Design Days as meaningful impulses for innovative urban planning.
The organisers of the Coburg Design Forum Oberfranken see it as their mission to strengthen and advance Upper Franconia as a design region, by supporting regional events and design projects.
This will become apparent during the Design Days, which will give local companies, educational institutions, students and graduates of Coburg University of Applied Sciences the opportunity to present themselves to an interested audience and a broad public, thereby establishing a creative and sustainable network. This year, for the 31st time, Coburg Design Days will be a cultural highlight and, as a regional, innovative, environmentally conscious and design-oriented event, a hallmark for Coburg.
A wide range of workshops, including an IKEA up-cycling workshop, a workshop on leather processing and a traditional tea ceremony, exhibitions by students, the Coburg company Brose and others, will all contribute to making design a tangible experience. The design of the exhibition concept is also based on the basic principles of sustainability and regional solidarity: former plywood panels are being used for presentation areas and tape in the Coburg colours, black and yellow, will link the individual areas with each other.
