Broken Nature: Design Takes on Human Survival
La Triennale di Milano
–1 September 2019
Against the background of the destructive consequences of human interaction with nature, the 22nd Triennale di Milano is dedicated to the concept of restorative design under the title of “Broken Nature”.
The works of the participants from the fields of design
and architecture have one thing in common – they rethink human’s relationship with their environment, taking into account both natural and social ecosystems. In addition to four works specially created for the exhibition by Formafantasma, the Mediated Matter Group of MIT, the Sigil collective and the design company Accurat, almost 100 projects from the past 30 years will be on show.
The installation “The Great Animal Orchestra” by sound researcher Bernie Krause draws the viewer into the sound world of nature, while the accompanying special exhibition “The Nation of Plants” provides inspiration for learning from plants about how to avoid future catastrophes.
