Comic and Zinefest
12 – 14 October 2018
The two-day Cozi festival features comics, magazines, posters, and printed art and offers interesting workshops and readings covering all aspects of comics. It will take place in parallel with the Frankfurt Book Fair and is run in collaboration with Atelier Naxos.
Numerous illustrators and artists from the comic industry, including some young artists and students, will also be at the festival to present their work. Amongst them will be Hanna Gressnich from Brausecomics, who writes and draws comic strips about both commonplace and unreal situations, the Los Angeles publisher Tiny Splendor which mainly markets prints and graphics, and Schikki Mikki, an online platform and library for comic magazines of all genres. Workshops, such as that run by the graphic artist and illustrator Sebastian König under the theme of “Let’s Twist Again”, will also take place in Atelier Naxos. In addition to participants designing personal “One Picture Stories”, they will also create their own magazine at the end of the workshop. Participation is free and limited to 15 people.
With further events in the programme such as readings with authors and comic-strip artists, the festival wants to invite visitors to discover new initiatives and inspirations and let off some of their own creative steam. A special highlight will be the informal get-together of the event in “Le Bureau” in the Gallusviertel, where many of the artists will be present. The venue, the Naxoshalle in Bornheim, is a free public space for young people and people interested in culture who want to be involved with art, especially graffiti and street art.
