Graz Design Month
11 May – 9 June 2019
On the evening of 10 May 2019, another design month will open in the UNESCO City of Design – Graz. For one month, the city will bring its creative economy to the centre of people's attention.
This year's programme focuses on the topic “Women & Design” – on the fact that the way we shape our environment also has an impact on our gender awareness and notions of gender roles. The organisers will use the theme to increase awareness of gender issues and to question current clichés and stereotypes. Exhibitions, lectures, events and presentations will take place under this banner throughout the month and across the city. This will create a space where design can gain new significance as a process of development and of adding value and also as a force for transformation in business and society. The offerings are aimed at representatives of the creative industries as well as people who are not involved in design contexts in their everyday lives. Ideally, the joint exchange should create a colourful network of interested and committed citizens who can do away with clichés and pull together. The Graz Design Month has received the award of the International Council of Design (ico-D) for its special promotion of design and compliance with standards in terms of design and ethics.
