Festival of Stuff
Institute of Making, UCL, London
3 – 7 July 2018
The Festival of Stuff celebrates materials and “making” with a range of master classes and a handicraft market. This year, (rediscovered) techniques range from cyanotype printing, to yellow road mark painting and copper bowl hammering.
The festival is organised by the Institute of Making, a multidisciplinary research group at the University College London. The institute has an established platform with a materials library and various workshops on the college grounds that are freely available to students and staff. Once a year it organises the Festival of Stuff for anyone interested in materials and “making”, with four days of master classes on different materials, disciplines, and techniques. Here, you can try out and learn something new like glass-whistle making, basket weaving, pewter casting, paper-cord weaving, linoleum printing and more.
Admission to the festival and events is free of charge. For all master classes booking is required.
