GIF Me Your Best.
The European Elections GIF Competition 2019
Deadline: 24 May 2019
Europe is voting. From 23 to 26 May, some 400 million citizens of the European Union will have the chance to elect the new European Parliament for a ninth time. For weeks the election campaign has been raging in 28 European countries, and the colours blue and yellow dominate the media. A commitment to shared values, freedom, social justice and a European community seems more important than ever.
The project Gif Me Your Best by creative director and concept designer Robert Eysoldt lends the theme a transnational language, an image that visually conveys the substance of the European Union in a way that everyone can understand. The GIF European Election Competition 2019 invites European graphic artists, typographers, photographers, illustrators, artists, freethinkers, video artists and anyone who wants to, to send in their creative answers to why Europe and the European Union is worth a vote. GIFs in a square format (600 x 600), no longer than ten seconds, without sound and without brand logos or party specific content can be uploaded here until 24 May. The emphasis on European unity and the desire for transparency and integration are reflected in all aspects of competition. The jury is made up of designers and communication experts from 24 EU countries and can be extended by representatives from other countries on recommendation. The competition website also provides a definition and tips on GIFs so that everyone truly has the opportunity to submit a contribution. The competition is looking for GIFs that will emotionally touch as many Europeans as possible, and persuade them to take part in the election. The competition will take place with the support of the European Parliament.
