Mainz Design Talks 2019 –
The potential of sustainable design strategies
6 June 2019
Since 2002, the Mainz Design Talks have been organised annually by the Design forum of Rheinland-Pfalz Descom and are a recognised forum for sharing ideas and information on current and industry-relevant topics. In 2019, the speakers will consider the potential of sustainable and innovative design strategies, their added value and the responsibility of the designers. Further, the social, ecological, and economic opportunities they offer companies will be examined.
What role does design play for companies that are being forced by new socio-economic and ecological challenges to consider sustainable management and make innovative future decisions? How, for example, can openly designed innovation processes, involving customers, competitors or designers, improve product development? Tom Klose, creative digitalist and founder of the innovation consultancy Supernju, discusses this approach to participation in design processes. He also explains why the attention given to design, design thinking, design methods and debates on sustainability is justified. In his lecture “Behavioural Design”, Peter Post, Managing Director of Scholz & Volkmer, looks at the effects that design has on human behaviour and examines the ethical responsibility of targeted manipulation. Tickets for the day cost 40 Euros at the regular rate and ten Euros at the reduced rate.
