Since 1965, the German graphic designer, cartoonist and lawyer Klaus Staeck has, through his graphics and posters, been engaging in a “political and aesthetic analysis of everyday life”, which can be understood and accepted regardless of any person’s level of education. Galerie Rambow in Güstrow, near Rostock, is currently holding an exhibition in his honour.

Thanks to his numerous solo exhibitions at home and abroad, Staeck is one of Germany’s most famous and controversial poster designers and there have been many unsuccessful attempts to ban his posters and postcards. Staeck organised his first political demonstration back in 1962, in Heidelberg, where he studied law. Three years later, he founded the publishing house “Edition Tangente” (today: Edition Staeck). From April 2006 to May 2015, Staeck was President of the Academy of Arts in Berlin where he now serves as honorary president. The philosopher Bazon Brock will open the exhibition.
