Rural areas are becoming deserted, while increasing urbanisation is driving rents in towns to dystopian heights. The symposium “Stadt.Land.Schluss”, initiated by the Koop design group, aims to help overcome this discrepancy. The organisers and lecturers will take a look at rural space from a transdisciplinary perspective not as a romanticised place of longing, but as a living and working space, a space for development with assets for the future. Among the speakers are the communication designer Ruedi Baur, Patrick Lüth from Snøhetta, the interdisciplinary studio for architecture, product and graphic design, human geographer Gerhard Henkel and the Stadtlücken association, founded by young designers from various disciplines, which is committed to developing cities worth living in. Designers can apply to present a Pecha Kucha lecture with their project, bachelor’s or master’s thesis until the closing date of 30 August 2019.
