To Go Grill

Text: Susanne Heinlein

Barbecuing has long become far more than just a means of preparing food. It is actually a way of life. That, at any rate, is the message chosen by Fuenfwerken, the Wiesbadenbased design agency, for its relaunch of the Weber-Stephen brand in Europe. A barbecue academy and since 2013 a lifestyle magazine called “Original” and Concept Store in Berlin Mitte are part of the “Weber Way”. Not that other designers and manufacturers have been idle. Many of their latest models are in fact top scorers, whether in terms of design, aesthetics or sustainability.

The name of the barbecue speaks for itself: it is a model for when you are out and about - in the park, on an excursion or out on the balcony. It consists of several elements that nest within each other and can be fixed with a strap when being transported. The lid with handle is not only for protection but also offers the option of braising meat additional to the open grilling. The To Go Grill is manufactured in enamelled steel and has silicon handles that stay cool. The charcoal holder and grill are dishwasher safe and easy to clean. The Danish label Eva Solo, that celebrated its centenary last year, specialises in living and kitchen accessories. The company’s design philosophy is to transfer exclusive design to everyday objects paying particular attention to aesthetics, functionality and quality.
