The Italian company Alessi is one of the most influential design companies in the world. The company’s own museum accommodates over 25,000 objects, 19,000 drawings and 20,000 photographs that have come into being through over 1,000 designers. The collection also includes prototypes and concepts that the company never released for production.

At the heart of the “Un peu plus” exhibition currently showing in Iceland’s Museum of Design and Applied Art (Hönnunarsafn) are drawings and sketches by Helga Björnsson, the fashion and costume designer. Björnsson lived for years at the heart of haute couture in Paris when she was working for the fashion designer, Louis Féraud.

The Museum of the City of New York is dedicating this all-encompassing exhibition to one of its sons, the graphic designer, Paul Rand (1914 – 1996). The title of the show is “Everything is Design: The Work of Paul Rand”. In addition to showing the beginnings of his career, many of his works from advertisements, corporate brochures, book design will be featured as will his work as an author.
