Designing Protest

Sep/Oct 2017

Order Magazine

Silent or loud, raised and planned long beforehand or erupting spontaneously, it can change something or fail miserably: such is the nature of protest. However, irrespective of the form resistance takes, it is always a subject of design.

60 Years of form
Revisiting the Past

2017 marks the 60th anniversary of form, a milestone that has prompted us to stop and take stock. In particular, we will be revisiting a specific article, reader’s letter, image, cover, etc. from each of the magazine’s six decades to date.

As for form, a now 60-year-old analogue medium, we joined the digital revolution in 1997, proclaiming in form 160: “Welcome to the World Wide Web. It at long last contains a design address: http://www.form.de.” We have asked two writers to take a critical look at what the ability to spread and share information globally means for us today.
