100 beste Plakate 16

Kulturforum at Potsdamer Platz, Berlin

16 June – 2 July 2017

The 100 Beste Plakate [100 Best Posters] competition has a long-standing tradition of selecting outstanding examples of posters and showcasing them in an exhibition. This year’s winners will be shown in the Kulturforum at Potsdamer Platz in Berlin, from 16 June to 2 July 2017, followed by an exhibition tour through Essen, Nuremberg, Lucerne, Vienna and Chaux-de-Fonds.

The competition goes back a long way. Founded more than 50 years ago in the GDR, it managed to keep going after the fall of the Berlin wall in 1989, and in the last 16 years has also been extended to include Austria and Switzerland in addition to Germany.

Commissioned and self-published works as well as student projects are all selected. The diverse range of the works and the large number of posters displayed provide a good overview of current trends in the industry.

This year’s winners competed against 532 applicants and will be showcased in an exhibition as well as being published in a yearbook.

The yearbook, designed by Yuan Wang, will be released to coincide with the exhibition opening in Berlin. Yuan Wang, a student of HfG Offenbach was born in 1988 in Jiangsu in China and has already won numerous prizes – among other achievements, he was one of the winners of 100 Beste Plakate 15.
