Animago Award 2017

Since 1997 the Animago Award has established itself as worldwide competition for 3D animation and stills, visual effects, visualisation and design. To date, over 22,000 productions have been compared against each other. The eleven different categories include “best advertising production”, “best visualisation”, “best still” and the “special architecture prize” for film visualisation which is presented by Detail, the architecture journal.

Last year 1,076 submissions from 58 nations were received, of which 39 works from 24 different countries won a nomination for prizes. The thirteen prizewinners were drawn from a total of nine countries. The award for the category of “best young production” is endowed with prize money of 3,000 euros awarded by Digital Production. This German-language specialist magazine is also responsible for organising the event. The key points for assessment are for ideas, dramaturgy, technical realisation as well as character design and animation. In 2016, the French film “Garden Party” was the winner.This year’s award ceremony will take place as part of the Animago Conference on 7 and 8 September 2017 in the cultural centre Gasteig in Munich.


Early bird tickets are available from the beginning of April. Submissions can be made free of charge online until 31 May 2017. Detailed information about the conditions of participation are available online.
