15 – 21 January 2018
The first international furniture fair of the year will be held in Cologne from 15 to 21 January 2018. With 1,200 exhibitors from fifty countries, this traditional furniture fair aims to determine trends in the furniture and furnishing industry for the next year and to define which products will be profitable for business.
This international furnishings fair exhibits product classes ranging from basic to luxury and serves as a platform for large, established retailers as well as newcomers to the business, displaying concepts in their prototype stage and those ready for the market. The fair brings together ten different segments of the market in eleven halls, including various versions of the traditional “Pure” design format, including Pure Talents, which puts the ideas and prototypes of young up-and-coming designers and universities centre stage. The exhibits are divided into the segment areas Prime, Comfort, Sleep, Smart and Global Lifestyles. The fair is accompanied by a programme of events in which discussions with renowned experts and designers will be held to discuss future developments in shapes, colours and materials in the furniture and interior design industry.
This year, the IMM has included lighting as a furnishing element in the fair concept. Also, in the Pure Editions area, a showplace for individual design concepts in a gallery-style hall, the emphasis has been put on decorative illumination. This theme is also the basis of this year’s concept for “Das Haus – Interiors on Stage”, created by the Czech designer Lucie Koldova in a poetic light experiment. Another new feature is the “Pure Architects” segment, a format which will present innovative room concepts in the context of the furnishing industry every two years from now on.
