Pauliina Pöllänen: Half Full

Designmuseo, Helsinki

– 12 March 2017

Works by the Finnish ceramic artist Pauliina Pöllänen are available to view for the first time as a solo show in her home country. She is inspired by modernist forms to deal with the bodily nature of forms and transform these into sculptures.

The residency programme at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London is the ideal environment for Pöllänen to draw inspiration from the exhibits there and also from working with other artists. She prefers to work with clay and develops sculptures from rough sketches; although their shape always vary greatly in the process. The exhibition includes works from her time in Philadelphia (as part of a residency at The Clay Studio) and London.
