Poster design the French way: At the Poster Festival in Lucerne this year the latest developments in the graphic design industry will be presented with a particular emphasis on francophone poster design.
As part of the Weltformat exhibition, a broad selection of posters from the entire sector will be on display. The Fond Bleu exhibition will include contemporary poster design by designers and studios in French-speaking Switzerland, which are particularly notable for their experimental approach. In addition, various works will be exhibited by the former Parisian collective Grapus and which were created between 1970 and 1991. These works have not lost any of their immediacy and are still of interest for new generations of graphic designers with their design critique of political, social and cultural themes.
The 150-year old relationship between Japan and Switzerland has been taken by various designers as an opportunity to implement the idea of exchange in terms of graphics. The design on this topic of the Swiss collective Grilli is being used by the Weltformat exhibition as its advertising.
It is worth mentioning that, as part of the exhibition, the free app “Next by Design” will be used this year for the first time. This is supposed to raise the awareness of various posters in a light-hearted way by allowing visitors to retrieve a poster and additional information from their smart phone or tablet, creating a certain amount of interaction.
