Handles and portals of sacred buildings are as unique and diverse as the architecture of the buildings themselves. They are the first touch on the way into the spiritual world, the first "reach for heaven."
The traditional door and window hardware manufacturer FSB is now dedicating an extensive and inspiring publication to this topic with great attention to detail. What many may not even know is that Franz Schneider, who founded the FSB company in 1881, initially mainly manufactured furniture fittings and devotional items such as crosses, crucifixes, rosaries, statues, and images of saints.
With contributions from renowned architects*, photographers*, theologians*, and architecture and design journalists*, the publication is an interplay of interesting and high-quality content, such as reports, interviews, and photo essays with a focus on contemporary and historical sacred architecture of the three major religions: Christianity, Islam, and Judaism.
Two books are combined into one and can be read and viewed from two sides. It has two covers, two different fonts, two forewords, and two photo series.
