The Faculty of Design at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences is looking for you to take on the W2 Professorship for "Typography."
Start: as soon as possible / permanent / salary group W2

Your Responsibilities

• Teaching typographical methods and content in applied and artistic-experimental design in the foundational and advanced study phases of Bachelor's and Master's degree programs
• Conveying digital processes and media, such as creative coding, kinetic, interactive, and space-based typography, as well as analog design techniques
• Further development of the subject area with an interdisciplinary and digital perspective
• Commitment to projects and events in the subject area at the university in national and international contexts
• Participation in academic self-administration

The willingness and ability to support the further internationalization of Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences through English-language courses and to actively improve the development and strengthening of the research profile and associated third-party funding acquisition are also expected.

Your Profile

• Completed university degree
• Demonstrably outstanding subject-related achievements and a broad spectrum of national/international experience in applied and independent projects
• Several years of professional experience in the artistic-design field and demonstrable reputation through exhibitions, publications, awards, and lecture activities
• Interdisciplinary thinking and cross-media practice
• Teaching experience
• Knowledge of media theoretical discourses and the history of typography, as well as a critical awareness of the societal role and future responsibility of design processes
• Programming experience is desirable

The hiring requirements for professors are based on § 36 of the North Rhine-Westphalian Higher Education Act (Hochschulgesetz NRW).
