Form 298 – Gender
"Everything in life is about sex. Except for sex, which is about power." This witticism, (probably falsely) attributed to Oscar Wilde, could explain why sex is still a taboo subject: It affects all of us and thus becomes an element of power and shaping.
A common practice to wield this power is to continuously relegate sex to the realm of the "private". The act of having sex can be private, but the phenomenon must remain discussable in public discourse, otherwise sex becomes a means of oppression.
