form 299 – Money
"Money is what counts as money" - that's what you learn at the German Money Museum. This means, conversely, that money could be anything. It is only through social consensus that money – essentially a mundane medium of exchange – becomes the ultimate instrument of design. We lend this instrument value and power. For example, in the form of a capitalist system, colonial exploitation, expensive design objects or humanitarian work – all topics in our new issue.
In the magazine

- In her essay, design philosopher Mara Recklies examines the multifaceted layers of the capitalist system and its effects on the design industry.
- Yassine Ben Abdallah writes about his homeland La Réunion and the exploitative colonial past of the island.
- The big form money survey reveals: our followers haven't made it big yet.
- Konstantin Grcic, Malaika Raiss, Rush Jackson, Laura Breiling and Badal Patel provide insights into their finances.
- Valerie Präkelt tries to get to the bottom of the secret of best-selling interior products. For this, she scrutinizes Pulpo's "Oda" lamp.
