WHAT IS GOOD 2023 – DDC Design Competition, discursive, participatory, democratic
The German Design Club (DDC) stands for good design and is the leading club for designers of all disciplines in the German-speaking world. For over 30 years, the DDC has understood design as a holistic discipline to create sustainable value for society. How do we design value-creating things? How do we create value-based living environments? How do we design appreciative content? The second edition of the DDC Design Competition also focused on asking the right questions. WAS IST GUT 2023 (WHAT IS GOOD 2023) of the German Design Club honors projects that are good and important because they create value(s) and promote a social, democratic, and environmentally just future. The publication not only presents the award-winning, world-improving ideas and the winners, but also discusses the question WHAT IS GOOD in relation to design. Finally, the DDC Design Competition is also innovative in its process. In WAS IST GUT, the participants themselves become the jury – discursive, participative, and democratic. With contributions from Robin Auer, Simon Daubermann, Claudia S. Friedrich, Felix Kosok (DDC Board Members 2021 - 2024) as well as Georg-Christof Bertsch, Friedrich von Borries, Kirsten Dietz, Jonas Larbalette, and Ruben Pater.
