Few other things are as essential for human existence and at the same time as self-evident as energy. Everyday actions such as cooking, heating, and telephoning are tied to it – but where the energy comes from usually remains hidden from the consumer behind the power socket or the heating thermostat. However, the omnipresent consequences of our energy consumption, which manifest themselves in environmental damage, health risks, and political conflicts, including wars, are by no means hidden. We address the complex interconnections in which our use of energy is interwoven and in which design also plays a decisive role in the Focus section of form 263.
