form 281 – Archive / Design and Archives
Archives are chroniclers of human history and thus an important starting point for research, as information is collected, sorted, and stored in them. Archival material can be physical documents or objects in "real" places, or – increasingly – digital data that can be accessed remotely. What is stored, whether the people associated with the information are aware and agree, whether archives are complete and neutral, and whether oblivion still exists despite modern technology, must be considered.
Furthermore, we examine the phenomenon of the card catalog, which is slowly falling into oblivion in its analog function but is experiencing a digital renaissance as a design element on websites, and we investigate the electrification of freight transport on highways.
