It would be an oversimplification to claim that color always looks the same everywhere and exhausts itself as a phenomenon in its pure decorativeness. Because strictly speaking, the concept of color has a double, if not triple or quadruple meaning. There is the physical component, the neurological function, the socio-cultural meaning – and of course, pure aesthetics. Anyone who designs should acquire as comprehensive knowledge as possible about all these aspects. That's why for this issue we spoke with physicist Philip Russell, delved into the high art of nail design, explored the connection between classism and color, and turned to experimental offset printing. In addition, author Corinne Mynatt delves into the world of black light, designer Katrin Greiling answers three questions, Mike Meiré explains what design means to him, and Sebastian Herkner names an object he unfortunately didn't design.
