Office art or the office in the museum

The exhibition "Out of Office" at the Museum for Concrete Art in Ingolstadt explores the office as a symbol of modern society and its organizational principles. The concrete artists view the office as a signifier of regulation, order, administration, bureaucracy, rule, and the exercise of power. Bureaucratic tasks are characterized by strict adherence to rules, which are typically found in mathematical operations and religious rituals. Even in an increasingly digital age, analog tools such as sticky notes and rulers remain in use, which artists recontextualize as objects in new constellations.
