West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau educates approximately 3,000 students across eight faculties.

At the Faculty of Applied Arts Schneeberg, the following position (m/f/d) is to be filled indefinitely as soon as possible:
Professorship for Textile Art (Salary Group: W2, Part-time (0.5 FTE), Reference No. Zw AK 118)

Your tasks
You will represent teaching and research activities in the field of textile art and surface design. You are prepared to undertake teaching assignments in related fields and in continuing education programs of the university. You are prepared and able to conduct the courses to be taught in German and English. The further development of the organizational, content, and methodological-didactic concepts and materials of your represented degree programs, as well as advising and mentoring students (e.g., within the framework of project and thesis work or internships), are also among your tasks.
In addition to teaching, you will distinguish yourself through research and development activities with partners from industry and academia. You have extensive professional experience through your own freelance artistic activities. Publication activities and the acquisition of third-party funding are part of your research activities. You maintain contacts with corporate practice and further expand our cooperation network. You actively participate in academic self-administration and promote interdisciplinary collaboration in teaching and research.

Your profile
We are looking for relevant scientific and entrepreneurial experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Extensive experience and successful activities in the fields of free and applied (textile) art, as well as the corresponding imparting of methodological competence.
  • Independent collaboration with partners from art, craft, industry, and science in application areas of textile art and surface design (textile object art, art in public spaces, experimental and artistic surface design, architecture-related art).
  • Complex artistic design of figures, forms, and spatial textiles, interdisciplinary project work.

    In addition to the general civil service requirements, the following employment requirements must be met, taking into account § 58 SächsHSFG:
  • completed university degree in a relevant or related field of study for the teaching area,
  • pedagogical aptitude and didactic knowledge, preferably acquired through teaching experience at universities in related fields of study,
  • special ability for scientific work as well as
special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in at least five years of professional practice, of which at least three years were outside the university sector.

We are looking for a personality who, through appropriate practical and scientific activities, wishes to further expand practice-oriented teaching and applied research in the university's profile lines. Experience in acquiring third-party funding and supervising research projects is advantageous. For the increasing internationalization of the university, you have very good written and spoken English skills. International experience is desirable.
